Welcome to the Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center

Welcome to the Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center’s website! Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center is a program of the Health Projects Center. We’re glad you’re here. First of all, congratulations and thank you for making the decision to be a caregiver or to support a caregiver. It is one of the most compassionate and selfless acts of love a person can do.

Caregiving can bring with it a host of questions and challenges – from financial and legal questions, to safety issues to stress management tools. We know you need information and support on your journey as a caregiver. And we’re here to help you every step of the way.

As you look through this website, you’ll learn about the many services available to caregivers through Del Mar – services like respite care, support groups, workshops, legal and financial counseling, and more. You’ll also find several tip sheets, fact sheets and statistics on caregiving, as well as contact information for other sources of help.

If there are any other questions you have, please feel free to contact us directly at

Who is a caregiver?

A caregiver can be anyone – a family member, friend, neighbor or paid professional – who has made a personal commitment to the care of a loved one. They provide the personal care needs for an adult with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury or any condition that results in memory loss, confusion or inability to care for themselves. Caregivers assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, finances, housework, shopping, love and emotional support, transportation and more.
