Eligibility

Individuals responsible for the care of a family member living with a neurological disorder whose condition began after age 18 and living in the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito are eligible for Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center (CRC) services. 

 

All families are welcome, including extended kinship networks and families of choice. Individuals are eligible for services regardless of income and resident status. Respite services include a sliding scale co-pay fee. All other Del Mar CRC services are at no cost.

Goal of Services

Del Mar CRC staff offer support and explore service options with caregivers that align with their interests, preferences and choices. Service goals are connected to the organization's mission and values:

Services

Information & Referral (I&R) – An entry point service for individuals seeking information about community services and resources.

Family Consultation – Family Consultants help caregivers identify options for addressing caregiving challenges and other life stressors. Family Consultants keep in touch with caregivers through follow up contacts. Family Consultants are available upon request from caregivers at any time. To arrange a consultation, call 1-800-624-8304

Education – Del Mar CRC offers an annual calendar of free caregiver classes open to families and professionals. Topics cover areas important to family caregivers in the beginning, middle and later stages of caregiving.

Support Groups – Del Mar CRC support groups are professionally led by our Family Consultants. Support groups provide a place for caregivers to connect with others, forming important bonds for sharing and caring for one another.

Respite – Respite is the word used to describe arranging a break from caregiving. Respite grants are available (funding permitted) to arrange respite in a variety of ways. Respite services can be delivered in the home by an agency contracted with Del Mar CRC or through an individual hired by the caregiver. Out of home respite options are available through an adult day care center or 24-hour Adult Care Facility. A co-pay for respite services may apply.

Legal Consultation – A free legal consultation with a contracted attorney is available to caregivers with questions about legal and financial matters such as Powers of Attorney, Wills & Trusts, and for questions about managing finances.

CareNav (Care Navigator)

Your online resource for reliable information

Are you interested in setting up an online account for accessing educational information and other caregiver resources? CareNav is a secure, confidential online service developed for persons caring for a family member with a neurological condition. 

 

Enrolling in CareNav is free and easy. 

​

After answering a brief questionnaire, you will receive personalized information tailored to address your questions and needs. Upon enrolling in CareNav a Family Consultant will contact you to provide information on how to become a client of Del Mar CRC.
